Meet Kevin
Enforcing the rules. Protecting Oklahoma workers.

Kevin Dawson spent 43 years in one of the most safety-critical, highly regulated industries in America, where accountability is not optional and mistakes have real consequences.

Born in Wichita, Kansas, Kevin was raised in a family that valued service and resilience. His father served in World War II, and his mother worked building B-29 bombers during the war. Those roots shaped Kevin’s lifelong respect for work, responsibility, and country.

At 18 years old, Kevin hired out on the railroad, beginning a 43-year career in one of the most highly regulated industries in America. He became one of the youngest locomotive engineers in the country, working in an environment where safety and accountability were the standard every day.

Kevin worked both in the cab of a locomotive and in management, focusing on training, public safety, and workforce development. He worked closely with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure safety standards were followed and workers were protected. When he saw practices he believed were not right, he made the decision to return to the engineer’s seat, where he finished his career and retired in 2022 as a proud union member.

Kevin and his wife, Joann, have been married since 1983. Together they raised three children and now enjoy eight grandchildren.

Kevin’s story is rooted in real-world experience. Working under the rules. Enforcing the rules. And standing up when those rules are not followed.

That’s the experience he brings to enforcing Oklahoma’s labor laws, protecting workers, and making sure the rules are followed.
